I'd been to Arnold's before. My husband and I were thinking about moving to the neighborhood and had checked out places that seemed like they'd be fun to hang out at. I'd bought an elaborate, delicious ginger-and-lemon thing. I knew Arnold's was a new business that I'd hoped to support but didn't know they were black-owned. When we went back to look at a house we might buy, we stopped in. I got the same drink I'd gotten before, my husband got an iced tea, and we got a little pastry. I already knew I liked the place -- it's designed really nicely -- and we would have gone back anyway to get a cup of tea, since he likes to get a cup of tea when he's stressed, and house-hunting is stressful. The tea was, again, delicious. So was the pastry.
