I had never been nor heard about Dana's bakery before this project. I and the four-year-old girl I nanny had just finished lunch and were craving dessert, and there was a list of businesses in the One Large pamphlet to give us some direction (I tried using the app recommended, but it was hard to navigate). I typed the address into Google maps and drove there. If I didn't have a smartphone, we probably couldn't have found the tiny place, especially because their sandwich board had blown over that windy day.
When we entered the shop, it was clear to me that most of their energy was dedicated to making the sweets, not developing an aesthetically pleasing interior where you could enjoy your food. The woman behind the counter patiently waited when I took my time to choose what to buy.
We purchased huge cinnamon rolls and danishes. Since it was early in the afternoon, a dozen doughnuts were half price, so we left with a box of those, too.
Other customers came and went the same way we did: driving, parking on the curb outside, ordering and leaving in their cars (I know this because it took us so long to choose what we wanted).
We left the shop looking forward to eating our doughnuts a playground. We had so much food, I shared it with friends later, telling them about Dana's Bakery and One Large.
