I decided to take my friend and colleague out for lunch to celebrate her and the work she has done for us over the past year. She is moving on to graduate school in August, so it was a nice opportunity for us to enjoy some time together.
I asked Ashley to pick a black-owned restaurant. She has been working on a project to cultivate black-owned businesses. I knew she would know where to go. She mentioned her friends had raved about Jamaican Homestyle Cuisine—a new restaurant within a mile of our office—so we went there.
We had the jerk chicken, rice and beans, and cabbage. It was AMAZING. I would highly recommend it if you're ever in Portland, Ore. I will definitely be going back.
Thank you for doing this project.
