I went out of my way to get to this little bakery. There were plenty of pastry shops and other places with treats in them closer to the Hill, where I was in DC. None were black-owned, though.
While parking, I saw that behind the Sweet Lobby was another, fancier bakery with a garden. I looked wistfully at that place and at the garden. But I was on this mission.
I bought four macarons: blueberry-sage, birthday cake (two of those), and vanilla violet. I was going to save one of the birthday cake macarons for my son, but I ate all of them in the car—they were too good—and had $2 left of the $10.
When I got home, LuLu was in the backyard behind my friend's house. She does manicures if you can catch here there (she's 10 years old). I sat at the picnic table and she did my nails. She charged me $2.
