I was asked to participate in this project while attending the National Theatre Communication  Group's annual conference.  I readily agreed because I think it's a great idea. At first, I was unable to locate an open business. I tried looking up black-owned businesses in Buffalo and called about five of them — all numbers were disconnected. I drove to one of the locations and the store was no longer there (a neighboring business told me they had moved years ago).

This was discouraging, but I was determined to keep my word.

The opportunity presented itself as I was driving back from the theater where I work part time (Torn Space Theater, on Fillmore Avenue near Broadway). I stopped at Trendz on Broadway and purchased this romper for $15.

I hope this project progresses to the point of making a difference by interrupting the flow of money to white-owned businesses.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate.
