Originally I had looked up a cool gift shop just a short bike ride from my home in Boston, Nubian Notions, but was sad to find that they has closed. Many of the other spots in my city happened to be restaurants, which are awesome, but I was interested in buying something hand-crafted by another artist, so I checked out a list of black-owned Etsy sites that the organizers of One Large kindly pointed me toward.
I don't typically shop online, so I actually had a great time looking through pages and pages of crocheted sculptures, one-of-a-kind bags, pouches, t-shirts, and organic skin supplies. I finally fell in love with Ini Vibez's shop. I got my ears pierced late in life, so I don't have a great collection and am pretty picky. Her sweet fabric wrapped "dyme piece" studs were perfect, and I found a pattern and colors I love. I recommend checking out the adorable heart shaped ones as well- they were hard to resist ; ) This shop is original and affordable and seems to be doing very well. I was so happy that One Large directed me to all this great work by black artists and business owners.
