Shy Morris is an artist who was impacted by Rick Lowe and Project Rowhouse in Houston, where she assisted with one of the galleries. A native of New Smyrna Beach, she moved back to this area and recently opened PEACE ARTS (Positive Education and Creative Expression/Always Ready To Serve) in the historic African American Westside. She is engaging the community through art, after-school programs for kids, creating bridges with single mothers. The building is owned by Gloria Hill Evans, an African American woman, who is investing in her community by encouraging artists/social engagement/economic impact in a historic building.
