We stopped by Wilson's on our way back to our Airbnb place in the Mexican War Streets neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. Our choice was not because it was a "Black-owned business" but because it served food that had come highly recommended to us. We forgot about our task, to be honest, since we are not accustomed to choosing where we go based upon the social race of ownership. Besides, who are we to make assumptions about one's cultural identity based upon our perception of phenotype. In a way, this task got in the way of us being naturally open to any and all spaces (and to the people who occupy them).
