​I learned about Mikey Likes It by internet-searching Black-owned businesses near my place of work (East Village, NYC). I went to the business on a day of heavy hearts and protests, in the face of more documented police brutality against people of color. 

I wanted to make a purchase that would spread joy. Ice cream seemed like a good choice. I purchased several quarts and brought them back to my office to share.
